DEQ Public Hearing on Injection Wells

The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality, which oversees gas and oil drilling, is promulgating new rules regarding INJECTION WELLS. This is a public hearing on that topic. Not a great place to collect signatures, we don't think, but you might be interested in attending and giving comments to the DEQ.

This step of getting the DEQ to have "primacy"--sole authority--over injection wells will mean the EPA would no longer be involved. DEQ does not look at radioactivity of the waste, nor does it look at seismic/earthquake activity or potential environmental impacts.

We will be BANNING frack waste from horizontal well bores in wells like this.

Come to the hearing and make your voice heard.
